Magnezyumun İnsan Vücudu İçin Önemi ve Kardiyovasküler Hastaliklarla İlişkisi

Özet

Koroner kalp hastalığı, kalp yetmezliği, kalp krizi ve anjina gibi rahatsızlıklar kardiyovasküler hastalıkları oluşturmaktadır. Bu hastalıkların meydana gelmesi hem kardiyovasküler riskleri barındırmasından hem de mineral düzeylerinde oluşan bozukluklardan kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu önemli minerallerden biri olan magnezyum canlılar için önemli bir yere sahiptir. Magneyum hücrelerde fazla miktarda bulunmaktadır. Çünkü bu mineral mitokondriyal işlevin devam ettirilmesi, glikoliz, DNA, protein ve ATP sentezinde görev almaktadır. Magnezyum’ un kardiyak fonksiyonlar bakımından; kalsiyum antagonisti, ATP’ ye bağlı reaksiyon düzenleyici ve kardiyak ritim düzenleyici gibi etkinlikleri bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca çoğu enzimin kofaktörü olarak ta görev yapmaktadır. Kardiyovasküler hastalık mortalitesi ve magnezyum arasındaki ilişki tam olarak çözülememiştir. Magnezyum eksikliği olarak bilinen hipomagnezeminin genel olarak kardiyovasküler hastalıklar ve diğer nedenlerle ilişkili ölümlerle bağlantılı olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Fakat hipomagnezeminin tam tersi hipermagnezemi durumunda da kardiyovasküler advers olayların oluştuğu görülmüştür. Magnezyum’ un kasılma mekanizmasında direk bir fonksiyonu bulunmamasına karşın, kalsiyum seviyelerine etki ederek, kalsiyum düzeyinde değişikliğe neden olur. Bu değişikliğin kalsiyum ile aktifleşen vasküler düz kas kasılmasını düzenlediği ortaya konulmuştur. Magnezyum, aritmi ve atriyal fibrilasyon gibi kalbin elektriksel iletimi ile ilişkilidir. Bu derleme çalışmamızda, magnezyumun kardiyovasküler hastalıklar ile ilişkisinin araştırılması hedeflenmiştir.
